Phantom Narratives, Cultural Complexes and the Effect of the Current Sociopolitical Climate

In keeping with our organizational goal of developing our awareness of the impact of racism on our work, the PCPG member education committee is pleased to offer to PCPG members a four session workshop on Phantom Narratives, Cultural Complexes and the Effect of the Current Sociopolitical Climate in the Consulting Room, taught by Sam Kimbles, Ph.D.

Dr. Sam Kimbles will use the context provided by the explosive historical moment we are experiencing in American culture and politics to look at how our clinical work and cultural attitudes are influenced by these factors. We will consider together how Phantom Narratives and Culture Complexes evoked by polarization around differences have infiltrated both the consultation room and our psychotherapy training institutes. In addition, we will explore what the emotional currents of hate, racism, xenophobia and misogyny tell us about the continued effects of our collective traumas on our clinical work.
